A total of 438 charities, centres and philanthropic organisations providing care for orphans, older people and persons with disabilities on Saturday received the annual Royal support, marking His Majesty King Abdullah’s birthday.

At the outset of the ceremony, Royal Court Chief Yousef Issawi, who is also head of the follow-up committee for the implementation of Royal initiatives, conveyed his warmest congratulations to His Majesty on the occasion of his 64th birthday, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Speaking at the event, held at the Royal Court, and attended by Minister of Social Development Wafa Bani Mustafa, Amman Governor Yasser Adwan and representatives of beneficiary organisations, Issawi said that the annual Royal initiative embodies the values of generosity and social solidarity that underpin the Jordanian society.

He noted that it reflects His Majesty’s commitment to empowering charitable institutions to continue their humanitarian mission, adding that Royal initiatives have consistently served as a bridge of support to citizens across the Kingdom, particularly those most in need.

Issawi added that the initiative, launched in 2011 in coordination with the Ministry of Social Development, aims to enable charities, centres and philanthropic institutions to sustain the provision of high-quality and durable services that improve quality of life for target groups nationwide.

He stressed that the importance of the initiative lies not only in its financial value, but also in its deep social impact, its role in boosting the sustainability of charitable work, supporting productive and employment-generating projects, and enabling these institutions to perform their role as key partners in social development.

Issawi said that the support serves as an incentive to continue the noble humanitarian mission carried out by these organisations and as an encouragement to other associations and centres to develop their programmes and enhance their services to qualify for future support.

He commended the efforts of all those involved in implementing the initiative and delivering support to beneficiaries with responsibility, fairness and transparency, reaffirming the continued role of Royal initiatives in entrenching the values of solidarity and compassion in Jordanian society.

For her part, Bani Mustafa said that special consideration was given to areas with particular development needs, with support extended to 96 charities, centres and institutions in the northern, central and southern Badia regions.

She also pointed to ongoing efforts to update the National Social Protection Strategy for 2025–2033, alongside programmes that include the establishment of inclusive day centres and mobile early-intervention units, as well as initiatives to promote the inclusion of persons with disabilities.

She said that 665 individuals have been integrated into their natural and alternative families, while work continues to develop legislation governing the associations sector to enhance fairness, transparency and good governance.

Representatives of beneficiary organisations expressed their appreciation and pride in the annual Royal initiative, saying it provides vital support that enhances the sustainability of their work and enables them to continue delivering care and protection services for orphans, older people and persons with disabilities across the Kingdom.
