Chinese Ambassador to Jordan Guo Wei on Tuesday affirmed that joint economic projects between Jordan and China are progressing “in full swing”, noting a steady rise in Chinese investments within the Kingdom.

Speaking during a press conference held at the embassy, the ambassador said that Chinese investments are set to enter a new phase following Jordan’s participation in the upcoming China-Arab States Cooperation Forum.

The ambassador highlighted that the forum, scheduled for mid-June, carries high expectations regarding its projected outcomes.

Addressing concerns over a potential postponement due to regional tensions and the conflict involving Iran, Guo said that the Chinese government has not announced any changes to the schedule.

“All Arab countries are prepared to attend and view this event with great interest,” he said, adding that the forum will bolster Arab-Chinese relations and promote regional stability.

He underscored that stability is a prerequisite for attracting investments to the region and preventing capital flight to other global markets.

Regarding the conflict with Iran, the ambassador expressed Beijing’s condemnation of and opposition to Iranian strikes against Jordan and the Arabian Gulf states.

“We oppose Iranian attacks against Jordan and Jordanian targets, and we call for the respect of Jordanian sovereignty,” Guo said.

“We condemn and denounce Iranian attacks targeting Jordan and the Arabian Gulf,” he added.

On the military front, the diplomat anticipated an extension of the ceasefire as the current two-week deadline approaches its conclusion.

When asked about the Strait of Hormuz, the ambassador asserted that the strait is an international waterway open to all and does not belong to any single party, stressing the necessity of adhering to the Law of the Sea and related international regulations.
