The Vocational Training Corporation (VTC) has signed four memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with the Central Association of German Skilled Crafts to enhance Jordanian youth’s skills and career opportunities.
The agreements were signed under the patronage of Minister of Labour and VTC Chairman Khalid Bakar and Germany’s Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, Reem Alabali-Radovan.
According to a Ministry of Labour statement on Sunday, the four MoUs were signed at the headquarters of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) in the presence of Jordan’s Ambassador to Berlin Faiz Khoury.
The agreements mark a strategic step that reflects the “deep” Jordanian-German partnership and the Kingdom’s vision to empower youth and build national competencies equipped for the global labour market.
Bakar stressed that the partnerships represent a “strategic milestone” in Jordanian-German cooperation, highlighting the importance of activating vocational apprenticeship programmes to qualify young people with advanced practical skills and connect them with the German labour market.
He said that this reflects Jordan’s national commitment to developing human capital and securing quality job opportunities for job-seeking youth.
He added that the signing of these agreements is part of a comprehensive vision to enhance Jordanian youth’s capacities with global-level skills and competencies, ensuring their employment in quality jobs in line with international labour market needs, and reinforcing the value of vocational apprenticeship as a bridge to sustainable job opportunities.
Alabali-Radovan underlined the German government’s commitment to supporting skilled and qualified labour, noting that the German economy requires around 400,000 skilled workers annually, including some 250,000 in vocational, technical and craft sectors.
She commended the distinguished cooperation with Jordan, describing it as a “model” experience in developing youth skills and preparing them to meet international market requirements.
VTC Director General Ahmad Gharaibeh said that the partnerships form part of the national strategy to qualify youth through advanced training programmes, as well as language and cultural preparation, alongside professional integration opportunities with German companies.
He noted that this ensures internationally recognised skills acquisition and opens the door for sustainable employment across various vocational and craft sectors in Germany.
