Lower House Speaker Ahmad Safadi on Sunday held separate meetings with Hungarian Ambassador Peter Jakab and Bulgarian Ambassador Metin Kazak to discuss bilateral relations and regional developments.
During the meetings, all sides emphasised issues of mutual interest, particularly strengthening parliamentary ties. Safadi highlighted the urgency of intensifying efforts to stop the aggression on Gaza and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to the besieged Strip, according to a Lower House statement.
He reiterated Jordan’s rejection of plans to occupy Gaza and the ongoing escalation in the West Bank, stressing the need to pursue a course that ensures the establishment of a Palestinian state based on the two-state solution.
In his talks with Jakab, attended by Deputy Speaker Huda Nafa and head of the Jordanian-Hungarian Parliamentary Friendship Committee MP Ibrahim Suraireh, Safadi reaffirmed Jordan’s commitment to advancing bilateral cooperation in areas such as trade, cultural exchange, and education.
“We look forward to seeing a rise in scholarships for Jordanian students at Hungarian universities and remain committed to broadening parliamentary cooperation as a means of deepening ties across various sectors,” he said.
Jakab commended Jordan, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah, for its role in regional affairs and its efforts to maintain security and stability while promoting peaceful solutions to ongoing crises.
In the meeting with Ambassador Kazak, attended by President of the Jordanian-Bulgarian Parliamentary Friendship Association MP Abdel Halim Ananbeh, Safadi and the ambassador stressed enhancing cooperation across economic, educational, and tourism sectors, while strengthening parliamentary relations for the mutual benefit of both countries.
