Minister of Social Development Wafa Bani Mustafa on Wednesday met with Philip Goldman, founder and president of Maestral International, to discuss bilateral cooperation across various social programmes.
The meeting was attended by Iman Ismail, Maestral International’s regional director for the Middle East and North Africa, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
During the meeting, Bani Mustafa highlighted the ministry’s ongoing efforts to bolster the social protection system through an institutional and integrated approach designed to ensure sustainable, positive impacts for target groups, according to a ministry statement.
The minister outlined services provided to persons with disabilities, noting an expansion in alternative care services, early intervention programmes, inclusive day services, and family reintegration initiatives.
Bani Mustafa also touched upon economic empowerment programmes for underprivileged families.
She emphasised that these initiatives are part of an integrated response to move families from aid dependency toward productivity and employment.
Regarding child and juvenile welfare, the minister underscored the ministry’s commitment to strengthening child protection and case management systems.
“This includes developing alternative care policies and enhancing vocational training, extracurricular activities, and psychosocial support within juvenile care centres, alongside capacity-building for social workers.”
The minister commended the organisation’s contributions and stressed the importance of expanding partnerships in child protection and family empowerment to support national efforts in improving services for vulnerable populations.
For his part, Goldman praised the ministry’s diligent efforts in implementing targeted social programmes and expressed his commitment to furthering future cooperation in shared social fields.
